MAHAA is an Association of the Advocates, by the Advocates and for the Advocates. The prime object of the Association is to protect the rights of the legal fraternity within the parameters of law. Further the aim of the Association is to maintain the Decorum, Decency, Tradition and Dignity of the noble legal profession and to educate the generation ext lawyers, so that they can illuminate in legal profession.
MAHAA Association was formed in the year 2001, even before the inauguration of the Madurai Bench, with the sole motive of equipping the Advocates of south Tamil Nadu to appear before the High Court. The first President of MAHAA Association was Mr.E.N.Venkatesan a legend in Civil Law Practice who is the "Mahatma of MAHAA". The first secretary was Mr.K.P.Thiyagarajan who became the President of MAHAA. Mr.K.Manickavasagam was the first Treasurer of MAHAA and his yeomen service is to be ever remembered.
MAHAA Association was duly recognized by the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu (No. 184/2001) and it was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies registration Act. (No.72/2004).
MAHAA Association was allotted a spacious hall for its functioning, the hall named as "MAHAA Hall", was opened on 24.07.2005 i.e., on the first anniversary day of Madurai Bench. After that, with the able guidance of senior Advocates and legal luminaries and with the co-operation of the junior advocates, a magnificent library is now established with all law journals particularly Madras Law Journal from the year 1891 and All India Reporter from the year 1914. We are also having other law journals in our library, it is our aim to make the library ever remembered by the generations to come. This has been exemplified by fully furnishing it with text books and journals. MAHAA Association is ably guided by an advisory committee consisting of senior Advocates.
MAHAA library and the MAHAA conference hall are fully air conditioned with the assistance of generous hearted people and Advocates.
From the very beginning of MAHAA Association 74 orientation programmes were conducted by eminent senior advocates and Hon'ble Judges of Madras High Court, regarding the procedures to be followed before the Hon'ble High Court.
MAHAA Association is fully equipped with automation, enabling the advocates to learn and practice law and ethics, in such a way the law day i.e., 26th November has been celebrated every year.
MAHAA has parted with funds in many natural desserts management, and relief including Tsunami and it is the association contributed the judiciary with huge amount and in first of its kind, the then Hon'ble Chief Justice. Mr. Justice. Markandeya Katju acknowledged and convened gratitude towards the member of MAHAA. In the recent flood sufferance in Chennai, the MAHAA has extended its helping hand by contributing a reasonable value to the Government of Tamil Nadu through the then administrative Judge of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court Hon'ble Mr. Justice. V.Ramasubramanian. For the purpose of charity or aid, MAHAA has formed a Trust in the name of "MAHAA TRUST".
By-Law, the rules and the regulations of MAHAA will speak more about the aims and goals of MAHAA, it is noteworthy to say that the by-laws of MAHAA comprise several salient features and which is unique in its nature.

MADURAI BENCH OF MADRAS HIGH COURT
Madurai - a magical name, spelling an extraordinary sweetness, a huge town/city sleeped in antiquity in religion, in art architecture and music in a cuisine honed delectable with a time and permanently redolent with the essence of fresh jasmine, truly a place like no other.
It is a town with unique pulsating vibrancy of its own, totally alive day and night as if life were centered on a Lido. This is a place where Gods walked, lived and ruled a documented in history.
Madurai is the city which is the centre place of Tamil Nadu. But at the same time High Court of judicature was established at Madras for the convenience of the British people. But realizing the difficulty in moving to Madras from the down south of Tamil Nadu, first a voice was raised by the Kanyakumari Bar Association in the year 1973 for the establishment of Hon'ble High Court Bench at Madurai. Slowly the same voice was echoed in various other parts of Tamil Nadu. Lastly, Madurai Bar Association which is the oldest Bar in Tamil Nadu led the struggle for the establishment of Madurai Bench. After several years of peaceful struggle, lastly Madurai Bench of Madras High Court was established on 24.07.2004. It is to be noted that but for the vigorous steps taken by the then Hon'ble Chief Justice B.Subhashan Reddy, Madurai Bench could not have been established till now. He took so much of interest in completion and inauguration of this Madurai Bench and he is a man to be ever remembered by the legal fraternity and public of south Tamil Nadu.
Now 14 Districts are under the jurisdiction of Madurai Bench viz Madurai, Dindigul, Theni, Trichy, Karur, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Ramanathapuram, Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari.
It is to be noted that Madurai Bench of Madras High Court was established in a building which is like a palace of erstwhile kings who ruled India and the same is really a magnificent monument of whole India which is unique in its nature.
Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple at Madurai is a holy temple for atheists and Madurai Bench of Madras High Court is a holy temple for legal fraternity.
